Series record-Big Red 32, East Liverpool 14, ties 2

Most significant Big Red win- 1989's 7-0 thriller pitted two teams who's playoff lives were on the line. The game lived up to the hype as Big Red had a goal line stand in the 4th quarter to preserve the victory in front of a packed Death Valley.

The Skinny: Coach Prescott will have one of the most dynamic playmakers in all of the state of Ohio in Marky Thompkins back for his senior season. The Potters' quarterback was an internet sensation last fall after he hurdled a Struthers defender during a double overtime, 28-21, win over the Wildcats on September 24. Prescott will look to Thompkins to provide "leadership, his physical attributes and physical ability alone (will help) lead us and (will) make big plays". Marky is not just a gifted quarterback but he is also a solid defender at his safety position.  Another big-play performer on offense is Derek Thompson. The 6'2 junior will take on a leadership role that the likes of Willie Leavell and Kyle Weyand had a year ago. Thompson mixes it up well on defense. East Liverpool returns their top players at every position (6 offense, 5 defense), and are looking at big things this season.
